After a while we took in the clothes,
nobody said very much.
just some old wild shirts and a couple pairs of pants
which nobody really wanted to touch.
mama come in and picked up a book
anand' papa asked her what it was.
someone else asked, andquot;what do you care?andquot;
papa said, andquot;well, just because.andquot;
then they started to take back their clothes,
hang and'em on the line.
it was january the thirtieth
and everybody was feelinand' fine.
The next day everybody got up
seeinand' if the clothes were dry.
the dogs were barking, a neighbor passed,
mama, of course, she said, andquot;hi!andquot;
andquot;have you heard the news?andquot; he said, with a grin,
andquot;the vice-presidentand's gone mad!andquot;
andquot;where?andquot; andquot;downtown.andquot; andquot;when?andquot; andquot;last night.andquot;
andquot;hmm, say, thatand's too bad!andquot;
andquot;well, thereand's nothinand' we can do about it,andquot; said the neighbor,
andquot;itand's just somethinand' weand're gonna have to forget.andquot;
andquot;yes, i guess so,andquot; said ma,
then she asked me if the clothes was still wet.
I reached up, touched my shirt,
and the neighbor said, andquot;are those clothes yours?andquot;
i said, andquot;some of and'em, not all of and'em.andquot;
he said, andquot;ya always help out around here with the chores?andquot;
i said, andquot;sometime, not all the time.andquot;
then my neighbor, he blew his nose
just as papa yelled outside,
andquot;mama wants you tand' come back in the house and bring them clothes.andquot;
well, i just do what iand'm told,
so, i did it, of course.
i went back in the house and mama met me
and then i shut all the doors.
Después de un rato nos llevó en la ropa,
nadie dijo mucho.
sólo algunas camisas viejas salvajes y un par de pares de pantalones
que nadie quería tocar.
mamá venga y tomó un libro
anand papá 'Le pregunté qué era.
alguien preguntó, andquot; ¿qué te importa andquot?;
papá dijo, andquot; bueno, sólo because.andquot;
luego comenzaron a recuperar su ropa,

Era enero al treinta
y todo el mundo estaba bien feelinand '.
El día siguiente, todo el mundo se levantó
seeinand 'si la ropa estaba seca.
